It’s hard to believe how much we’ve grown in our 12-year journey. As we celebrate our anniversary, let’s hear from our managing director, Sir Saz, as he shares his thoughts about our past, present, and future, while showing everyone how #ItchBetterByTheDozen!
A special Sir Saz speech for our 12th anniversary!
"Looking back on Itch's 12-year journey, it's remarkable to witness the company's growth and evolution. It all started in Room 412, a small and cramped space with a bathroom that had a shower directly on top of our faucet. Despite the limited room, our determination was limitless. We worked hard to establish our company and make a name for ourselves in this demanding industry. Eventually, we outgrew that tiny room and moved to a coworking space called DIYWO (Do-It-Yourself-With-Others), which allowed us to work in a more collaborative environment alongside like-minded individuals who were also trying to build their businesses.
As we continued to expand, we moved to 1503 in Robinsons Equitable Tower. It was the first time we had a dedicated space designed specifically for our needs. This was a significant milestone for us as it had a sound booth and a small studio. We even shared this new space with BlankSlate, a production company that our former Itches started.
However, we didn't stop there. We continued to grow, and we moved up to 3507—a new home with a fantastic view of Ortigas. It was an exciting time for us as we had more space to work in, and we were able to accommodate more people joining our growing family. Unfortunately, when the pandemic hit, we had to all work from home. But that wouldn’t stop us and we successfully transitioned to a full work-from-home environment. Even with the pandemic, our family just kept getting bigger and better. In fact, given our current size, our previous office wouldn’t have been able to accommodate all of us anyway.
Despite facing challenges and obstacles through all these moves, we overcame them by being adaptable and resilient. We continued to push forward and evolve our company, no matter where we were. These moves allowed us to learn and grow as a team, and we are proud of how far we have come.
While we've sought larger spaces to accommodate our growing team, our proudest achievements as 'Itches' have been the intangible ones. We've developed strong bonds with one another, fostered leadership skills, and created an environment that cultivates confidence, belief, and pride.
Our journey has not been easy, but it has been worth it. We have always been ready, determined, and capable of achieving great things, regardless of office space. As we continue forward, we hope to be recognized by the industry for our authentic culture and our spectacular work. We aspire to be celebrated individually for our talent, expertise, work, and life by our families, friends, schools, and the wider community.
As we continue this journey, let us never forget our roots and the hard work that brought us here. Let us continue to push forward and strive for excellence in everything we do, knowing that we have the potential to achieve great things.
We are Itch, and we are more than just a company. We are a community of passionate individuals dedicated to making a positive impact in the world. Together, wherever we may be, we share a common goal and a strong bond that transcends physical boundaries.
Looking back on our journey, we remember the cramped space of Room 412, the collaborative environment of DIYWO, and the panoramic view of Ortigas from our latest office. We moved from one workspace to another, but what truly matters is that we continued to grow as a team and we built a culture that fosters creativity, innovation, and collaboration.
As we look towards the future, let us embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, knowing that we have the skills, determination, and resilience to overcome any obstacle.
